AN EVENING WITH GEORGE WINSTON

Enjoy good music while doing good…

We are pleased to announce that popular pianist and friend of NWC, George Winston, is returning to the Chicagoland area. Due to popular demand, tickets for the December 19 performance at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center are already sold out.

But, here are a couple of ways to join Mr. Winston in helping NWC support our neighbors this holiday season:

1) There are a limited number of CDs available for sale. Contact us if you would like to pick one up for yourself or as stocking stuffers for the music lovers on your list. All proceeds are being generously donated by the artist to Northwest Compass.

2) Concert-goers are being asked to bring non-perishable food items to benefit NWC’s Food Connection. If you would like to help us make sure our neighbors don’t go hungry this holiday season, food donations are gratefully accepted at our offices in Mount Prospect (1300 W. Northwest Highway, from 9am to 4pm, closed between noon and 1pm.)

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

When families, individuals, veterans and unaccompanied youth are in housing crisis or find themselves food insecure, where do they turn?

They turn to Northwest Compass. Why?

Northwest Compass strives to be effective in the provision of services to our neighbors in crisis in and around the Northwest suburbs. Our neighbors know that they’ll be treated like real people
by dedicated, compassionate professionals in a warm, caring environment.

We are so grateful to you for helping to support our mission of helping our neighbors turn crisis into opportunity. You are helping our staff touch the lives of thousands—whether our neighbors are facing dire circumstances in new and unfamiliar territory, or seeking to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. Northwest Compass wants to be a community resource. We exist to serve our neighbors in crisis—to provide hope and a path to empowerment.

Your gift is extremely important because it offers immediate resources that are directed to current needs and opportunities in the community. For example, a gift of $500 will help make an immediate impact on urgently needed services for our neighbors in the areas of housing support, care for our veterans including respite, emergency food security and assisting homeless young adults. We serve our
homeless, hungry and our heroes!

Our board, staff, volunteers and interns—everyone here who works to serve our community, joins
me in thanking you for your generous partnership and support.

Your donation is helping to create a safe environment for our neighbors from which they can create a path to a positive future for themselves and their families. Thank you so much for your support. Without the support of a caring community, we would not be able to continue helping our neighbors turn crisis into opportunity.

GIVING TUESDAY

HAVE A HEART, GIVE A HAND

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday.
Your gift on the 29th of November could help a neighbor in need like Wendy…

A single mom of two elementary-school aged girls, Wendy was working long hours, but just barely making ends meet on her wages from her job in the industrial park. Then her hours were cut. Around the same time her oldest got sick, requiring a pricey prescription. Wendy tried supplementing her income by waitressing, but with rent, childcare and medical bills mounting, she quickly began to fall further and further behind. Soon she lost her apartment and she and the girls were living out of Wendy’s small sedan.

When Wendy had all but given up hope, enter Northwest Compass. Because of caring individuals like you, Northwest Compass is able to help our neighbors through crisis. The dedicated staff of NWC Housing was able to get Wendy and the girls into transitional living, while NWC Food Connection helped Wendy stretch her budget by providing healthy food support. Wendy was referred to NWC empowerment services like Credit Counseling, Money Matters and Career Coaching to help her find ways to better her future.

Today, Wendy has a new job as a receptionist in a medical office with full-time benefits, and she and her daughters are back in their own apartment, saving up for a down payment on a home.

There are hundreds of Wendys in our neighborhoods. Without the support of a caring community, we would not be able to continue helping our neighbors turn crisis into opportunity.

VETERANS DAY

THANK YOU FROM A GRATEFUL COMMUNITY

Our military men and women live by a “Leave No Man Behind” ethos and “Got your 6.” Let’s make that same pledge to our soldiers when they return home.

Veterans Day is a national day to honor those who served. We understand that veterans and active military personnel and their families live to serve others and rarely reach out for help. At Northwest Compass we’re committed to helping our nation’s heroes through our caring professionals and dedicated volunteers, who work tirelessly every day.

Northwest Compass’s programs provide support services and education to veterans of all wars, military family members and their caregivers. Northwest Compass provides advocacy and encourages engagement by our nation’s heroes while helping them access mainstream benefits, housing options, career coaching, money management, and more.

At Northwest Compass, we pledge to work diligently to leave no veteran behind by providing emergency services, education and empowerment. On this November 11, please support the mission and help us show our veterans the thanks of a grateful community.

Without the support of a caring community, we would not be able to continue helping our neighbors turn crisis into opportunity.
